It's never easy to find time to work on my comic series, ZED, but somehow, between juggling various projects, I've been able to make progress on the final issue (Number 10) and it's almost done! It should go on sale within a month! I designed the story as a ten-issue series and I can't believe that after over 10 years, I'm finally going to wrap this up. I guess there's something to be said about persistence. Here's a 3-page preview:
I received the final proof this morning for Young Romance: The Best of Simon and Kirby's Romance Comics, and I must say, the book looks really nice. Tony Ong, the designer at Fantagraphics, put together the final cover. Pretty cool I think! Although I've authored more than a dozen books, this is my first one credited as editor, and frankly, I'm quite surprised it will finally see the light of the day. It's been one of those side projects that just linger on forever. You can read about how the book came about here. It is slated for January 2012.
The PyR Festival bills itself as the most abstract film festival in the world. No representation allowed! The aim is to pose a creative challenge to study and reflect upon the essence of form and movement. In fact, I had to create a special version of Sensology without the inter-titles (text outside of the main and end titles is considered representational) so that the film would be eligible.
Over 368 films from 42 countries were submitted and 109 wereselected to take part in the official competition. I had no idea so many abstract films were being made!
